Sunglasses

With spring here and summer around the corner, sunglasses are not only an accessory but a necessity.

I have accumulated quite a collection with blogging and such, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite sunglass resources 🙂

Pictured above are my current favorite sunglasses… (from top to bottom) Classic 58mm Angular Cat Eye Sunglasses from SunglassSpot.com, Tortoise Round Sunglasses from H&M, Large Pentagon Sunglasses from SunglassSpot.com, and Aviator Sunglasses from Forever 21.

Knit Headbands

Even in sunny Southern California, the weather is freezing right now. Early mornings are especially frosty and if you are anything like me, being frozen is not fun for you.

I already frequently sport headbands on a semi-regular basis, whether it be a messy bun kind of hair day, or because I was too lazy or too rushed to do anything else with it; headbands add a quick little oomph and style to whatever else you have going on with your hair.

Lately my main motivation behind wearing them has been the weather. Knit headbands truly make a huge difference in my ability to keep warm. They also cover my ears, which is a huge plus, cause those little babies get cold!

The headbands pictured above were all recently purchased at Forever 21 (my new stock for this winter season). But I have several tried and true headbands that have made it winter after winter from many retailers such as H&M, Active, American Eagle, and Nordstrom.

Bangle Bracelets

Bangle bracelets are one of the simplest and effective ways of adding a little style to your overall look. I am a firm believer in the idea of taking the time to build up a plentiful accessory treasure chest. A good accessory can add miles to an outfit with very little effort. Adding a few bangles to your jewelry collection is an easy place to start.

Bangle bracelets can be traced back in history to 2600 BC in the Mohenjo-Daro settlements. A statue of a young girl was discovered in an archeological excavation. The statue, entitled “Dancing Girl” is a nude figure who is wearing an armful of bangle bracelets. Based on this evidence, bangle bracelets are noted as the first accessory of the human culture.

The bangle can be seen across Indian, Mayan, and Roman cultures throughout history and has come in almost every material imaginable, including: stone, glass, terracotta, shells, plastic, resin, and various metals.

With such a long standing history that the bangle has had, it is safe to say that this accessory isn’t going anywhere. Whether it’s day or night, or if you are wearing one or several; your arms are guaranteed to reach their glam potential when they are adorned with these little circular wonders.

Bangle on! 🙂

Socks

Let’s talk socks! With the dozens upon dozens of sock options out there right now, it is just silly to be wearing the same ol’ basic white sock. It just simply won’t do! 😉

There are socks for the cutesy, for the quirky, for the pattern-obsessed, for the animal lovers, and foodie fanatics. Whatever your thing is – there’s a sock to represent it.

So get out there and embrace your sock game!

14th and Union

14th and Union is a company I just recently discovered at Nordstrom Rack. These were the first two pieces that I have bought from them and I can safely say that I know I will be a repeat customer. I love vintage jewelry and when I saw these bracelets, I knew I had to have them. They have a very vintage-esque look and I was able to mix and match them easily with a lot of the vintage pieces I already own…Which is a bonus! 🙂

Upon doing a little bit of research, I have come to find out the 14th and Union is not only a jewelry company. They design menswear, women’s wear, scarves, hats, shoes and yes..jewelry. I can not attest to the greatness of any of the other merchandise, but the quality of the jewelry is fantastic.

14th and Union is available at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack

National Hat Day!

Today is National Hat Day! So whether it be a sombrero, top hat, bonnet, cloche, beret, fedora, or beanie; today is the day! Hats are a great accessory to add to any outfit. Not just to cover a tragic case of bed head or protect from the elements, hats can be the finishing touch you are looking for to complete your overall look. Happy Hatting! 🙂

Argyle

In honor of Argyle Day, I chose to share with you one of my favorite legwear companies. Hue has so many great leggings, and hosiery options. I have been wearing their tights and leggings for several years. They always have a great color and pattern selections that reflect current fashion trends. Their products are of great quality and built to last.

Vintage Jewelry

img_8546

I love, love, love finding vintage jewelry, specifically necklaces. Most times I search out these treasures on eBay, such as the one pictured. But if you are lucky enough to live somewhere that has nicer thrift or antique stores and/or in a neighborhood where estate sales are plentiful, then you can often find some beautiful jewelry there as well. The advantage to adding a few vintage pieces to your accessory collection is that of originality. Most likely, no one else will own what you have. If you like standing out fashionably, this is for you. Another advantage is quality. Vintage jewelry was built to last. The only disadvantage is that of having to sift through the rubble to find your treasure. It can be time-consuming and tedious. But anything worth having is worth waiting for, right?! 😉
