Aztec Secret – Indian Healing Clay Mask

If you love face masks like I do, whether they be sheet masks, peel-off masks, clay masks, or any of the other dozens of mask options out there, this may be one you would like to add to your collection.

It is tingly, pulsating and deep cleaning. It removes impurities and debris from the skin and pores. You will notice some pinkness/redness after using, but it fades pretty fast. This is definitely a mask I would opt to use in the evenings because it is fairly intense and really does a great job pulling out all the dirt from your pores.

To use as a mask, the clay can either be mixed with apple cider vinegar or water, in equal parts.

According to the Aztec Secret website this miraculous clay works in the following way: The molecules of the clay carry a negative electron charge, and toxins that are stored in your skin (or epidermis) are positively charged. Because of this polarity, the toxins and dirt are pulled from the skin when the clay is applied. Now this may sound like rocket science or a scenario you may see on a chemistry exam, however the facts are the facts, and this stuff does what it claims.

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay also has a variety of applications. It can be used for clay baths, acne, insect bites, foot soaks, bodywraps, as well as facials.

I have only used it as a mask so far, but based on that, I am very curious to try out the other applications as well.

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is available on the Aztec Secret website, Amazon, and the Vitamin Shoppe for approximately $8-9.

What you get is a one pound jar of clay, which roughly translates to approximately 25-30 masks that are 100% natural, fragrance free, and free of any animal testing.

Try it for yourselves and let me know what you think!

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub

Voted one of Allure’s Readers’ Choice winners in 2016, the Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrubs are definitely worth trying out; especially if you are looking to get your skin summer ready.

The shea sugar scrubs come in several different scent combinations, including: Coconut Lime, Marula & Jasmine, Moroccan Rose, Brazilian Nut, Tropical Mango, Pomegranate Acai, Hawaiian Kukui, Passion Fruit & Guava, Lychee & Plum, and Original Shea.

I have tried the three pictured above, and would absolutely repurchase them. It is a very gentle scrub that exfoliated very well and leaves your skin feeling very soft and moisturized.

The application is simple and self-explanatory. You just scoop out the desired amount of product into your hand and apply in a circular motion to the area of the body you want to exfoliate. The sugar disintegrates as you scrub, and moisturizes your skin. Once you’ve scrubbed enough, rinse with water. I usually use this product while I am in the shower, after I have washed with soap.

So where can you pick up these scrubs to try out for yourself, you ask. Ulta has a large selection (actually I think they carry every single version), and they often have a two for one, or buy one get the second 1/2 off deal. But for the regular price of $7.99 (18 oz.) you are still getting a great product for an inexpensive price tag. I have also seen them for sale on Amazon and at some Bed, Bath and Beyond stores.

Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush

Back from the Too Faced archives comes the Papa Don’t Peach Blush. I have been wanting to try this for a while now, but finally the time has come and based on the last few weeks of using it, I am very happy that Too Faced decided to bring this new and improved version back into existence.

If you haven’t already heard the hype or you have yet to try this sweet peach out for yourself, let me give you the highlights. First, it smells AMAZING! Seriously, the peachy aroma goodness is definitely one of its greatest selling points. Second, the adorable packaging. It is cute and functional. The compact is a magnetized tin, and kind of reminds me of vintage makeup compacts. Third, and probably the most important is the sheer quality of the product. The blush itself is a beautiful warm and natural shade that has a good pigment, yet is buildable upon application to create either a very natural, radiant glow or a more dramatic, sun-kissed bronzed effect.

Other reviews comment on its versatility as a highlighter as well, but because my skin is so fair that is not an option I can speak of first-hand. Review after review also echo the positive qualities I mentioned above which clearly demonstrate the need to try this product out if you are in the market for a new blush.

Ratings:

For $30 at Sephora, Ulta, or the Too Faced website, you will get a fairly large pan of product (0.32 oz.), in which a little goes a long way. I’ve been using it daily for about two weeks now and it looks as though I just opened it. The imprinted image is still perfect!

If you have any other questions about this product or if you’d like to share your experiences about the Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush, please comment below.

Soap & Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash

This is the second product I’ve tried from Soap & Glory, and again I am totally impressed. The first product I tried was their Hand Food, and to put it mildly, it is the greatest hand lotion in all the land. You can read my complete thoughts on the review I posted previously here.

So with the sheer amazingness of the first product of theirs I tried, I figured I’d press my luck and try another (with fingers crossed).

I was in the market for a new face wash, and while wandering aimlessly through Ulta, I came across the Soap & Glory display. Now first, you must know that I am a total sucker for great packaging. Soap & Glory has that indeed, big cheers to whoever is in charge of that.

Based on how impressed I was by the Hand Food hand lotion, I did not hesitate to grab the Vitamin C Facial Wash off the shelf. I read the labels, glanced over the beautiful aqua blue gel with little pink dots within and proceeded to place it in to my bag of purchases.

When I got home I placed it my shower so it would be ready to go. Before diving right in, I remembered how concentrated their hand lotion was – a little goes a long way. So I squeezed about a pea sized amount in my hand and went to work.  Wow! Wow! Wow! Foamy, refreshing, and cleansing! Loooooooved it!

I have used it ever since. Now I will be the first to admit, I do not have acne prone skin. It is fairly normal most days, and can get a little dry here and there. For me this stuff is one of my favorite face washes to date. In fact, I am still working on my first bottle. This stuff lasts forever! So for a $12, 11.8 ounce bottle, your money will go far, and $12 is extremely inexpensive for the quality product that it is.

For those of you who need more convincing, it has a rating of 4.5/5 on Ulta’s website, based on 249 reviews.

Also here are the details from the description on the Ulta website if you are still contemplating 😉

  • Face Soap And Clarity 3-in-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash smoothes and purifies for super clean, fresh and bright skin.

With complexion-friendly, non-drying, easy-rinse ingredients including natural Superfruit Yuzu and Ultra-Soft Scrub-Beads, this high-tech foaming facial wash is a multi-tasking miracle.

• Cleansing, foaming and smoothing.

• Gently, polishes and purifies.

• Energizes and brightens.

• Strategically formulated for oily/combination skin.

In a nutshell, the Vitamin C Facial Wash from Soap & Glory is refreshing, effective, aromatically pleasing, and inexpensive. Try it for yourself! At $12, what do you have to lose?! My bet is that you’ll be just as impressed as me. 🙂

Of course you can find this product online at the Soap & Glory website, Ulta, and Target.

Body Blendz Scrubs

All the way from Australia, comes one of my favorite body scrubs.

I must admit that I am only an occasional scrubber, so I may not see all the benefits that these scrubs boast. I can however, attest to the quality of the product in comparison to other scrubs I’ve used. It smells great, is easy to use, and makes my skin feel amazingly soft afterwards.

All scrub options are a coffee variation and come in a 200 gram packet for $19.95. It is an ample amount with plenty of product for several scrub sessions.

Scrub Options:

  • Coffee Scrub
  • Coconut Delight
  • Oats Oats Baby
  • Sugar Daddy

Their website describes the benefits of each scrub variation as below:

Our Sugar Daddy Scrub is highly moisturising and highly recommended for use on sensitive skin. It’s perfect for helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It aids in treating ingrown hairs, eczema & Keratosis Polaris (the little red spots on the back of your arms and legs), all whilst keeping your skin supple, firm and youthful.

Our Coffee Scrub is packed with active ingredients like Caffeine & Sea Salt, which are perfect for targeting cellulite & stretch marks. It is suitable to treat acne, reduce redness and improve skin tone & texture.

Our Coconut scrub is highly hydrating and great for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The essential oils remove dead skin cells, clear away dirt, grime and remove make-up. It can also aid in shrinking wrinkles, preventing cellular ageing and protect against sun damage.

Our Oats Scrub is perfect for relieving itchiness, rashes & dry flaky skin. It also increases the natural production of collagen, which aids in smoothing out stretch marks. The oats scrubs also target cellulite, stretch marks, acne, eczema & psoriasis.

Scrub frequency recommendations from the Body Blendz website:

We recommend 2 to 3 scrubs a week is perfect to get that glowing, radiant skin you desire and to target stretch marks and cellulite. Make sure to leave the scrub on for 5 to 10 minutes each session for best results.

Body Blendz also has new body wraps and a new mandarin body scrub, which both look amazing and I can’t wait to try.

    Muddy Body Clay Masks

If you are in the market to try a new face mask, this is the one to try! Muddy Body Clay masks are nothing short of AMAZING!

I recently purchased the Detox Mask, and Wow! This mask made my skin feel so soft and clean. I try a lot of face masks and never before have I noticed such an immediate result. My face felt so clean and refreshed that I didn’t even want to put makeup on after using it.. And I love doing my makeup!

The clay masks come in three different versions: Detox, Refresh, and Relax.

The Detox mask has ingredients of activated charcoal, coconut, and cacao; with noted key benefits of drawing out toxins and bacteria, and the promotion/repair of healthy skin cells.

The Refresh mask has ingredients of cucumber, matcha, and aloe vera. Key benefits include acne prevention, and skin moisturization and nourishment.

The Relax mask has ingredients of rosehip, chamomile, and lavender. Key benefits include the restoration of skin tone and texture; and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles.

Thus far, I have only tried the Detox version, but based on the results I have experienced, I will definitely be trying out the other two versions of their product.

For the price tag of $23.99 for a 2 ounce jar, the Muddy Body Clay Masks are a great value. I really like that it comes in a powder form because I try a lot of different products and this enables me to mix what I’m going to use with each application, which in turn allows for me to use the product with out it going bad or drying out like other masks I have purchased in the past.

There is a bit of a learning curve on how to get the water-to-clay mixture just right, as the directions are a little arbitrary. But it is easy to figure out by your second or third mask, so you aren’t wasting any product.

    Derma Rolling

Or more commonly known as micro needling involves rolling a derma roller, which has hundreds of tiny needles, over the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Many use it on their face and/or lips to reduce wrinkles and acne scars, to diminish stretch marks, and to plump lips. The tiny punctures made by derma roller activates the skins natural healing mechanisms and acts as a catalyst to rejuvenate and renew skin.

So far, I have used my derma roller twice. While I can not speak on the effectiveness quite yet, I can comment on the pain and/or uncomfortability of regular use.

On a scale of 1 to 10 on the pain scale… It is definitely no higher than a 1. You will feel a slight irritation after use, but again it is minimal. I would equate it to the feeling your skin has when you’ve got a bit too much sun.

One huge recommendation would be to only use this treatment in the evening. Your face or body with be noticeably pinkened after use. No blood, just again like you had a little too much sun.

I do have to say that the process is kind of relaxing and therapeutic in a lot of ways, and I will continue the treatments so I can speak to their effectiveness. But to those of you who are reluctant to try because of pain or disfigurement, be rest assured that you don’t need those fears any longer.

If there is anyone out there that has had more long term use of using a derma roller and you’d like to share your experiences and/or tips, please feel free to comment below.
