Ardell Magnetic Lashes

I’ve been an Ardell lash user since my dance competition days in middle school. Since then I think I’ve used every shape and style of their lashes that I could get my hands on. They make a quality product that I return to the store to purchase time and time again.

So of course I was SUPER excited when I heard that Ardell was coming out with new magnetic strip lashes. The glamour without the glue? I’m in! 🙂

I pretty much stalked my local Sally’s Beauty Supply and Ulta for a couple weeks. Finally I got my hand on a few pairs.

Upon opening the package, one of the first things I noticed was how lightweight they were, which is a great thing because you’ve now got double the lashes.

Okay so I didn’t quite get how to put them on initially. The video clips make it look super easy. I can tell you it does take some practice, but once you’ve got it down, I think you will like these as much as I do. One piece of advise I can give is to check out Ardell’s IG @ardellbeauty. There you can see videos with some troubleshooting tips such as cutting the lashes into smaller magnetic pieces to make application easier.

So now that you are motivated to give these a try, here’s the where and the how much.

Available at the following stores:

  • Ulta
  • Sally’s Beauty
  • Target
  • CVS
  • Rite-Aid
  • Walmart
  • Walgreens

Available in three styles:

  • Double Wispies
  • Accent Lashes
  • Double 110

Cost: $12-$14 depending on where you purchase.

Here you can see a before and after. The top is without the magnetic lashes, and bottom is with the magnetic double wispies.

Aztec Secret – Indian Healing Clay Mask

If you love face masks like I do, whether they be sheet masks, peel-off masks, clay masks, or any of the other dozens of mask options out there, this may be one you would like to add to your collection.

It is tingly, pulsating and deep cleaning. It removes impurities and debris from the skin and pores. You will notice some pinkness/redness after using, but it fades pretty fast. This is definitely a mask I would opt to use in the evenings because it is fairly intense and really does a great job pulling out all the dirt from your pores.

To use as a mask, the clay can either be mixed with apple cider vinegar or water, in equal parts.

According to the Aztec Secret website this miraculous clay works in the following way: The molecules of the clay carry a negative electron charge, and toxins that are stored in your skin (or epidermis) are positively charged. Because of this polarity, the toxins and dirt are pulled from the skin when the clay is applied. Now this may sound like rocket science or a scenario you may see on a chemistry exam, however the facts are the facts, and this stuff does what it claims.

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay also has a variety of applications. It can be used for clay baths, acne, insect bites, foot soaks, bodywraps, as well as facials.

I have only used it as a mask so far, but based on that, I am very curious to try out the other applications as well.

The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is available on the Aztec Secret website, Amazon, and the Vitamin Shoppe for approximately $8-9.

What you get is a one pound jar of clay, which roughly translates to approximately 25-30 masks that are 100% natural, fragrance free, and free of any animal testing.

Try it for yourselves and let me know what you think!

Pros and Cons of Eyelash Extensions

Pros:

  • Cuts way down on getting ready time.
  • Pretty much always look wide awake and refreshed.
  • No pesky eyelash glue mishaps (I have them quite often).

Neutral:

  • Washing your face much differently.
  • Sleeping more carefully, so not to squish your new lashes into the pillow.

Cons:

  • Unable to use liquid eyeliner.
  • Slightly pricier than faux lashes (but not much – range from $25-$60 for approx. 2-3 weeks).
  • Commitment to same eyelash design for a two week period (for those of you who like to change it up).

Overall, I would highly recommend trying them out for yourselves. I will definitely be getting them again.

Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub

Voted one of Allure’s Readers’ Choice winners in 2016, the Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrubs are definitely worth trying out; especially if you are looking to get your skin summer ready.

The shea sugar scrubs come in several different scent combinations, including: Coconut Lime, Marula & Jasmine, Moroccan Rose, Brazilian Nut, Tropical Mango, Pomegranate Acai, Hawaiian Kukui, Passion Fruit & Guava, Lychee & Plum, and Original Shea.

I have tried the three pictured above, and would absolutely repurchase them. It is a very gentle scrub that exfoliated very well and leaves your skin feeling very soft and moisturized.

The application is simple and self-explanatory. You just scoop out the desired amount of product into your hand and apply in a circular motion to the area of the body you want to exfoliate. The sugar disintegrates as you scrub, and moisturizes your skin. Once you’ve scrubbed enough, rinse with water. I usually use this product while I am in the shower, after I have washed with soap.

So where can you pick up these scrubs to try out for yourself, you ask. Ulta has a large selection (actually I think they carry every single version), and they often have a two for one, or buy one get the second 1/2 off deal. But for the regular price of $7.99 (18 oz.) you are still getting a great product for an inexpensive price tag. I have also seen them for sale on Amazon and at some Bed, Bath and Beyond stores.

Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush

Back from the Too Faced archives comes the Papa Don’t Peach Blush. I have been wanting to try this for a while now, but finally the time has come and based on the last few weeks of using it, I am very happy that Too Faced decided to bring this new and improved version back into existence.

If you haven’t already heard the hype or you have yet to try this sweet peach out for yourself, let me give you the highlights. First, it smells AMAZING! Seriously, the peachy aroma goodness is definitely one of its greatest selling points. Second, the adorable packaging. It is cute and functional. The compact is a magnetized tin, and kind of reminds me of vintage makeup compacts. Third, and probably the most important is the sheer quality of the product. The blush itself is a beautiful warm and natural shade that has a good pigment, yet is buildable upon application to create either a very natural, radiant glow or a more dramatic, sun-kissed bronzed effect.

Other reviews comment on its versatility as a highlighter as well, but because my skin is so fair that is not an option I can speak of first-hand. Review after review also echo the positive qualities I mentioned above which clearly demonstrate the need to try this product out if you are in the market for a new blush.

Ratings:

For $30 at Sephora, Ulta, or the Too Faced website, you will get a fairly large pan of product (0.32 oz.), in which a little goes a long way. I’ve been using it daily for about two weeks now and it looks as though I just opened it. The imprinted image is still perfect!

If you have any other questions about this product or if you’d like to share your experiences about the Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush, please comment below.

Converse

Classic and iconic, Converse are an asset to any wardrobe collection. From solids, to patterned; from fashion to limited editions, the variety is endless. Since 1908 the people at Converse have been styling the feet of the masses. Uniquely and unlike any other footwear company that comes to mind, Converse has successfully broken down the barriers of cliques and classifications. They can be seen gracing the feet of musicians, athletes, fashionistas, and the like. Young and old, and everywhere in between own (or have owned) a pair over their lifetime.

Whether low-tops or high-tops, worn in or brand-spankin’ new, Converse are unmistakably trendsetting, yet quintessential at the same time.

Melt Radioactive Stack

The new MeltRadioactive stack launched on January 25th. I had been waiting patiently for this stack of bright pigmented colors to be released, and finally it was here! These colors are very different from the previous stacks released by Melt (which are also amazing). They are bright, build-able, and long-lasting.

I realize these neon-esque colors may not be for everyone, but even if you were only thinking of using them as accent colors, they would totally be worth the money.

At $48, the shadows come in a magnetized stack of four large pans. It may seem a bit pricey, but really it’s not. You are buying four, very pigmented eyeshadows where a little goes a long way.

For those of you who don’t see yourself sporting neon eyelids, I would emphatically recommend one of the other stacks from Melt. I own all three, and wear them most days. The other two stacks are Dark Matter, which includes four matte, warm neutral colors; and Love Sick, which includes matte and shimmer shadows in beautiful warm and cool shades.

Kat Von D – Tattoo Liner

Just recently named the #1 eyeliner at Sephora, and for good reason! No joke, this is the holy grail of eyeliners, hands down! I’ve been a repeat user of Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner since I first tried it a few years ago. Nothing I have used before or since has even come close to the quality and precision of what this liner can do. It is the blackest of blacks, long-wearing, smudge proof, and the list of compliments go on and on. If you have yet to try this eyeliner, do yourself a favor. What are you waiting for, the verdict is in!

NYX Baked Blushes!

Amazing!! I recently picked up a few shades of the NYX Baked Blushes. I’ve been playing and experimenting with them over the last week. They remind me a lot of the MAC Mineralize Blushes but for a less expensive price tag; although the MAC does come in a larger compact. Both are fantastic; however if you are looking to try several different shades, like I did, go with the NYX. Both have a lightweight, sheer coverage and have a very nice shimmer to them. The NYX Baked Blushes are also made to be used with either a wet or dry application, which give you dramatically different color. The dry application goes on as a light pigment and the wet application is more dramatic and pigmented. So you are really get getting two blushes in one….Bargain!!
